Released in 2023, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ was a colourful mix of romance, comedy, and drama. Directed by Karan himself, the film was written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy. It was a co-production of Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.

The movie starred Ranveer Singh as Rocky and Alia Bhatt as Rani. Their characters came from very different backgrounds; Rocky being a loud and lively Punjabi man, while Rani was a smart and confident Bengali journalist.

Despite their cultural clashes, the two fall in love. But before tying the knot, they take a bold step; they decide to live with each other’s families for three months.

The film’s supporting cast was just as powerful, including legendary names like Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, along with Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, and others.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ marked Karan Johar’s return to the director’s chair after a long gap. His last film as a director was ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which came out in 2016.

Apart from this celebration, Karan has also stepped into the world of podcasts. Just before his birthday, he launched ‘Live Your Best Life with Karan Johar’ on Audible. The podcast includes ten episodes, each focusing on different aspects of modern life.

Through these episodes, Karan has hosted heart-to-heart conversations with several well-known personalities like Konkona Sen Sharma, Dhruv Sehgal, Mithila Palkar, Preeti Shenoy, Masaba Gupta, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, and many more.
